Berlin Schönefeld Airport

Berlin Schönefeld Airport ( Flughafen Berlin-Schonefeld ) (IATA: SXF, ICAO: EDDB) is the secondary international airport of Berlin, the capital of Germany. It is located 18 km (11 mi) southeastof Berlin near the town of Schonefeld in the state of Brandenburg and borders Berlin’s southern boundary. It is the smaller of the two airports in Berlin, after Berlin Tegal Airport, and is a base for Condor, eayjet and Ryanair.

Schönefeld Airport was the major civil airport of East Germany (GDR) and the only airport of formerly East Berlin. It is planned to incorporate part of Schönefeld’s existing infrastructure into the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport when it opens, which is scheduled sometime during 2018 as of January 2017. It has been announced that Schönefeld’s terminals are planned to be used until at least 2023 to handle low-cost carriers as part of the new airport.
