Welcome to Moscow
Russia’s political, economic, and cultural center, Moscow remains the most populous inland city in the world, famed for its colorful history and rich architectural heritage. Home to over 12 million people, the city features an extensive transit network that includes four international airports and one of the deepest underground metro systems in the world. At the heart of Moscow sits a vast complex of historical buildings, fortified by a protective wall dating back to the 12th century. This central part of the city, inscribed on the World Heritage List largely due to its brightly colored church domes and lavishly decorated buildings, serves as the spiritual heart of the country and lures the biggest tourist crowds.
