Sitia Airport (IATA: JSH, ICAO: LGST) is a little group airport in the district Mponta of Sitia Municipality, on the eastern piece of Crete in Greece. The office is serving the city of Sitia. The air terminal is found 1 km north/northwest of the downtown area. Sitia Airport started operations on June 7, 1984, when the primary aircraft arrived on the location. This was an Olympic Airways’ Dornier Do-228, enlistment SX-BHF. This was an experimental drill, to test the airplane terminal and its taking care of offices. The air terminal was formally opened 2 days after,On June 9, 1984. Its official name got to be distinctly Municipal Airport of Sitia. At 10:30 that day, the primary authority flight, OAL 7001, arrived. On June 13, the primary flight from Rhodes arrived, trailed by a flight from neighboring island Karpathos the following day. On May 20, 1993, the airplane terminal’s administrations moved to a recently manufactured terminal building and control tower. The new establishments cover a zone of 550 m2. Another runway, situated 05/23 and with a length of 2074 meters was finished in May 2003. Likewise, 3 new runways and 2 new air ship stands have been built. Also, the old terminal building has been supplanted by a brief building, covering a zone of 1,000 m2. On January 13, 2016, the airplane terminal’s administrations moved to another terminal building. The new building has a territory of 7,500 m2.
