Welcome to Chios
Chios is a beautiful island rich in history. This is a mountainous island, situated few miles from the Turkish shores. Chios is mostly famous for the mastic trees, unique in its kind in the world. An island with strong local character, there are many interesting sightseeing there. Very beautiful are the small Medieval villages, such as Pyrgi and Olympi, with the geometrical patterns on the external walls. The rich Medieval history of the island has left many other marks on Chios. There are Medieval castles, such as the Castle of Chios Town, of Vrontados and the fortified village of Anavatos as well as many monasteries around the island.
